Chinese New Year Win

The Royal Selangor Polo Club held its first club cup of the year.  It was nice to win the Winston Cup, even though it was not named for my 4 y.o. gelding that Hannah Daniels has been breaking in.  My team of Camilla Sugden, Niels Madsen, Samsuri Ismail and myself won both our 4-chukka games rather easily, which was a bit of a surprise.

More importantly, the horses all went well.  It was their first gallops of the season.  I played different horses so that none of them would have to play two days in a row as they are not yet fully fit.

Many players do not seem to take into account that it is a long season.  We aim to play till October, which makes it a 9-month season for us.  You can’t expect any horse to play hard for nine months of the year.

In planning the work schedule for the season, we build in some down periods when we will take it easy on them and give them a chance to recover and get back to their best.  These are planned between the peaks.

Mitavite LogoOf course it helps that nutritionally we are feeding them the best cool feed you can find, Zack’s Tack’s Custom Polo Mix, and supplementing with Mitavite’s electrolytes and calcium.

Later in the year, we will use Mitavite Sustaina when we need to give them some high energy feed for top performance.

Having started well, I hope the horses keep up this performance for the rest of the season.
