Here is my father, Alex Abisheganaden, playing a medley of Christmas carols. Dad was awarded a Cultural Medallion for his work in music. A multi-instrumentalist that also sang and played the double bass, ukelele, trumpet, harp, and was self-taught on the piano and piano-accordian, he is best known as a classical guitarist. He founded the Classical Guitar Society of Singapore and NUS Guitar Ensemble, GENUS.
This is from a home recording made around 1980 on a cassette tape. It was a personal recording for Svein Engeseth, who kept it in Norway for 30 years. It was digitised in 2011, remastered by Reezal Abu Samah of Leonard Tan’s Beansproutz studio in Kuala Lumpur. Thank you, my friends, for helping to save my father’s music.
Dad will be 96 in January and still plays the guitar and ukelele.
Merry Christmas. May all your polo and equestrian dreams come true in 2022.
